Psychotherapist: LMFT (#95777)

Identities. We all have many and we often don’t realize how much impact they can have on our life and our functioning - especially when they’re changing. Adolescence, teenage years, young adulthood, partnership, parenthood, divorce, deaths, changes in jobs, moving, the list goes on. My favorite part of being a therapist is helping humans identify and uncover their own identities and process the changes they may be experiencing. Whether it’s a new mom grappling with the absolute rocking of their world as they knew it, a teenager struggling to create and find out who they truly are, or any other human trying to live life as their authentic self - it’s all hard, scary, and yet can be oh so beautiful.

I have worked with a range of clients over the years including adults with severe mental health diagnoses, children (age 5 and older) n the Child Welfare System with severe trauma and mental/behavioral health challenges, as well as students in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District with a range of mental health struggles. As a mom to a toddler, my new passion is maternal wellness and postpartum/postnatal mental health.

As each human is different, each therapeutic approach looks a bit different to meet the needs of my individual clients. I generally utilize a combination of Person-Centered, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also like to incorporate nature-based interventions whenever possible.

Originally from Massachusetts, I earned a B.A. from Miami University (Ohio not Florida) in Organizational Communications and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in San Diego. I have been in practice since 2011 and licensed since 2016. I have a 3-year-old daughter and Golden Retriever pup with my partner, Matt. As a family we enjoy biking, hiking, snowboarding/skiing, and rafting the Truckee River. When I’m not working or “momming,” you’ll find me working out in my garage, trail running/hiking with my pup, mountain biking, planning a backpacking adventure with friends, or reading some sort of adventure memoir.
